Growing up as a nonbinary gamer, I rarely saw myself reflected in video games.

For my final research project in Women and Gender Studies 201 at the University of Saskatchewan (Fall 2024), I explored how transgender representation in gaming has evolved over the past five years - both for better and worse.

From groundbreaking transgender characters like Tyler Ronan in Tell Me Why, to the tokenism of Sirona Ryan in Hogwarts Legacy, video games are slowly becoming more inclusive. Yet, challenges like toxic online spaces and shallow representation are prevalent.

In my video, I dive into how gaming mirrors our culture, analyzing progress and pitfalls for the trans community.
